On 18th December 2015 Ethiopian Mineral Petroleum and Biofuel Corporation was established by the Council of Ministers Regulations No. 367/2015 as a Federal Government Public Enterprise governed by public enterprise proclamation No. 25-1992, and supervised by the Ministry of Public Enterprise, with authorized capital of ETB 15,267,000,000 (Fifteen Billion Two Hundred Sixty-Seven Million Birr) EMPBC was re-established by the Council of Ministers regulation No. 462/2020 on 11th February 2020 following a merger with its former enterprise Adola Gold.
